Health Care Assistant

A Health Care Assistant (HCA) plays a vital role in supporting medical staff and providing compassionate care to patients in various healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and home care. The HCA is responsible for helping patients with daily activities, monitoring their well-being, and ensuring a clean and safe environment. This role demands empathy, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to patient comfort and dignity.

Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, dressing, and toileting

• Support patients with mobility, including helping them move around or using mobility aids

• Serve meals and assist with feeding where necessary

• Take and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, and blood pressure

• Report any changes in patients' physical or emotional condition to nursing staff

• Help maintain cleanliness and order in patient rooms and common areas

• Provide emotional support and companionship to patients

• Assist nurses and doctors during examinations or procedures

• Ensure proper infection control practices are followed

• Maintain accurate patient care documentation and reports

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in healthcare assistance is preferred

• Previous experience in a healthcare or caregiving role is an advantage

• Basic understanding of medical terminology and patient care procedures

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to care

• Physical stamina to assist patients and perform routine tasks

• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

• Team player with a positive and professional attitude

• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity

• CPR and First Aid certification is desirable
