Job Description

Dentists are healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat conditions affecting the mouth and teeth. They provide dental care services, including dental hygiene, restorative procedures, and surgical interventions. Dentists educate patients on oral health practices and preventive measures. They often work in private practices or dental clinics, collaborating with dental assistants, hygienists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive dental care.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct dental examinations and screenings to diagnose oral health conditions.
  • Clean and perform preventive procedures, such as fluoride treatments and dental sealants.
  • Administer local anesthesia and perform dental procedures, including fillings, extractions, and root canals.
  • Design and fit dental prostheses, such as crowns, bridges, and dentures.
  • Take and interpret dental X-rays and other diagnostic images.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive care.
  • Perform cosmetic procedures, such as teeth whitening or veneers.
  • Collaborate with dental specialists, such as orthodontists or periodontists, for specialized treatments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Stay updated with advancements in dental techniques and treatment modalities.
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.
  • State licensure to practice dentistry.
  • Strong knowledge of dental anatomy, physiology, and oral health.
  • Proficiency in dental procedures and techniques.
  • Familiarity with dental equipment and instruments.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of infection control and sterilization protocols.
  • Continuous learning and commitment to professional development.
  • Experience with dental practice management software is preferred.
