Job Description

As a Credit Analyst, you will play a crucial role in evaluating the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses applying for loans. Your responsibilities will include analyzing financial data, assessing risk levels, and making informed decisions on whether to approve or deny credit applications. You will be required to conduct thorough research, review credit histories, and assess the potential for repayment. Additionally, you will collaborate with loan officers and other team members to ensure compliance with lending policies and regulations. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound judgments are essential for success in this role. A background in finance, accounting, or a related field is typically required.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial data and credit reports to determine the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses.
  • Assess the risk involved in extending credit or lending money based on the analysis of financial information.
  • Prepare detailed credit risk assessment reports for decision-making by senior management.
  • Review loan applications and credit agreements to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the financial performance of borrowers, identifying potential credit problems or opportunities for restructuring.
  • Recommend credit limits and terms based on the risk assessment and analysis of financial data.
  • Communicate credit decisions and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external parties.
  • Conduct industry research and stay informed about economic trends that may impact credit risk.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as legal and collections, to manage credit accounts effectively.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve credit analysis processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, credit principles, and risk assessment.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
  • Relevant certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Credit Professional (CCP) are a plus.
