Job Description

As a Charge Nurse, you will play a key leadership role within a healthcare setting, overseeing the nursing staff and coordinating patient care. Your responsibilities will include managing the nursing team, assigning work schedules, and providing direct patient care as needed. You will be responsible for ensuring that all nursing protocols and standards are followed, and that patient care is delivered in a compassionate and efficient manner. Additionally, you will serve as a resource for the nursing staff, providing guidance and support as they care for patients. To excel in this role, you must have strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to make quick and effective decisions in high-pressure situations. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing and relevant work experience are typically required for this position.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee patient care delivery within a designated unit or department.
  • Assign and delegate tasks to nursing staff based on patient needs and staff competency.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and protocols.
  • Participate in developing and implementing patient care plans in collaboration with healthcare providers.
  • Provide guidance and support to nursing staff in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Conduct regular rounds to assess patient status and address any issues or concerns.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing care provided.
  • Act as a resource for patients, families, and staff regarding medical information and treatment options.
  • Assist in training and mentorship of new nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to promote a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or equivalent
  • Valid nursing license in the relevant state
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Advanced certification in a relevant specialty (e.g. critical care, emergency nursing)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
