Cath Lab Technician

The Cath Lab Technician plays an essential role in supporting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures within the catheterization laboratory. This role involves preparing the lab for operations, assisting during procedures, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly. The technician is responsible for maintaining sterile conditions, managing patient care during procedures, and contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the cath lab. The position demands strong technical knowledge, a focus on patient well-being, and the ability to work collaboratively under high-pressure conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare the catheterization laboratory with the necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies before procedures begin

• Assist the cardiologist throughout diagnostic and therapeutic procedures by handling equipment and ensuring patient stability

• Monitor patient vitals, document procedure details accurately, and maintain clear communication with the healthcare team

• Maintain cleanliness and sterility in the cath lab environment to prevent infections or complications

• Operate imaging and monitoring equipment such as fluoroscopes and ECG machines with precision

• Ensure all documentation related to procedures, equipment usage, and patient data is completed correctly and timely

• Respond promptly to emergencies or complications during procedures with the appropriate support

• Perform post-procedure clean-up, organize the lab for the next patient, and restock consumables

• Stay updated on the latest cardiac catheterization practices, technologies, and safety protocols

• Follow hospital regulations and safety standards to provide optimal care to patients undergoing cardiac procedures

Requirements:

• Diploma or associate degree in cardiovascular technology, radiologic technology, or a related healthcare field

• Valid registration or license as required by local medical authorities or regulatory bodies

• Previous experience working in a cath lab, hospital, or clinical setting is preferred

• Strong knowledge of cardiac procedures, anatomy, and sterile techniques

• Ability to operate and troubleshoot cath lab equipment and monitoring systems effectively

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to function well in a multidisciplinary team

• High level of attention to detail, particularly in high-pressure and emergency situations

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or on-call shifts, as needed

• Physically capable of standing for extended periods and assisting with patient movement
