Accounts Payable Specialist Job Description

An Accounts Payable Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the financial obligations of an organization by processing invoices, conducting reconciliations, and ensuring timely payments to vendors and suppliers. The specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and assisting in various accounting tasks. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in financial software.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process a high volume of invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Communicate with vendors to address payment issues or inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
  • Assist in month-end closing activities and financial reporting.
  • Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in accounts payable.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Previous experience in accounts payable or general accounting role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Proven work experience as an Accounts Payable Specialist or similar role
  • Advanced competency in accounting and business management software
  • In-depth knowledge of accounts payable principles, accounting standards and industry regulations
  • Extensive experience in account reconciliation
  • Great time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent collaboration and communication abilities
  • Relevant training and/or certifications as an Accounts Payable Specialist
