Job Title:  Safety Technician

JOB PURPOSE:

 Carry out a variety of duties related to Health & Safety activities which involves

·         Inspection and maintenance of all safety and fire-fighting equipment in the plant on routine basis,

·         Worksite / Project site inspection and stand-by duties,

·         Implementing appropriate waste management practices are being followed and that necessary industrial hygiene is maintained at the worksite inspection and stand-by duties.

·         Effective implementation of Work permit system and Work Management System (WMS)

·         Regular inspection to ensure compliance to Client (Oil and Gas)  HSE standards for Project activities mainly Operation Safety (OS) standards

·         Reporting Site Safety Inspection / Audit findings to Safety Officer  

·         Coordinating with Contractor Safety team and ensuring meeting the Client (oil and Gas)  HSE operation safety requirements.

·         Inspect and maintain all inventories of safety and fire-fighting equip­ment to ensure their operational serviceability and readiness during routine and emergencies situations.

·         Act as a back-up in emergencies to Plant Operations Division and the  Fire Service in fire-fighting, gas cloud control and dispersion, search and rescue operation and in administering first aid.

·         Prepare the provision of standby facilities for hot work, naked flame work vessel entry etc. and carry out critical duties such as fire watch and breathing apparatus standbys.

·         Carry out the safety inspections of a wide variety of safety equipment under custody of HSE.

·         Carry out plant loss prevention inspection to help minimizing potential accident losses, Uses a variety of specialist instrumentation to measure gas, and radiant heat levels, reporting these to Safety Officer.

·         Carry out safety and fire drill demonstrations during training sessions, includes administering first aid, the use of all firefighting equipment etc.

·         Assist Safety Officer in patrolling radiography work-sites, gas testing. Use thermal radiation monitor to check the area and ensures no unauthorized personnel or contractors enter the hazard zone.

·         Maintain and prepare training equipment and ensure their readiness for the training sessions and drill demonstrations.

·         Assist in carrying out planned plant safety audits, housekeeping and PPE surveys.

·         Carry out other similar or related duties as assigned such as checks operations radio system with own radio for emergency calls.

Minimum Qualification

·         Technical Diploma or Secondary School Certificate.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

A.   Minimum Experience

·         4 years of safety and fire-fighting experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Industry.

B.   Knowledge & Skills

·         Good knowledge of Arabic and English

·         Good Communication and Coordination Skills

·         Valid UAE Driving License (desirable)
