Job Description

The Quantity Surveyor (QS) Engineer is responsible for managing the costs and budgets associated with construction projects in Dubai. This role involves working closely with clients, contractors, and project managers to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. The QS engineer will handle cost estimation, cost control, and ensure that all financial and contractual aspects of the project are managed effectively.

Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates, budget forecasts, and cost plans for construction projects.
  2. Contract Administration: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts, ensuring that contractual obligations are met.
  3. Cost Control: Monitor project costs, track expenses, and provide regular reports on the financial status of the project.
  4. Valuation of Work: Conduct site visits to assess work completed and produce valuations for payment applications.
  5. Tendering: Assist in the preparation and evaluation of tenders and bids, and provide advice on procurement strategies.
  6. Change Management: Manage variations to the project scope, ensuring all changes are properly documented and quantified.
  7. Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to cost and suggest strategies to mitigate these risks.
  8. Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project delivery.
  9. Final Account Management: Prepare final accounts and ensure the accurate settlement of all accounts.

Candidate Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., MRICS) are an advantage.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects in the UAE or Middle East.
  3. Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of construction cost estimation, contract management, and project control.
    • Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam).
    • Familiarity with local regulations and UAE construction standards.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  4. Language: Fluency in English (both written and spoken); proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
  5. Eligibility: Must have a valid work permit or be eligible for employment in the UAE.
