The Emergency Room Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care to individuals presenting with urgent medical conditions and injuries in the emergency department. They triage patients, assess their condition, and administer appropriate treatments. The Emergency Room Nurse collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure effective patient care delivery.
Responsibilities
Triage patients based on the severity of their condition and initiate appropriate care.
Perform initial assessments and collect relevant patient data, including vital signs and medical history.
Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and other treatments as prescribed.
Assist physicians in emergency procedures, such as intubation and wound care.
Monitor and record patients' responses to treatment and report any changes in condition.
Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.
Educate patients on their condition, treatment options, and self-care after discharge.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and timely patient care.
Ensure compliance with infection control policies and procedures.
Stay updated with advancements in emergency nursing and participate in continuing education.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN).
Valid nursing license and registration.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency department setting.
BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
Strong clinical skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Adaptability and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work in rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
